WEFTEC 2026 Showcase of Energy Solutions
Wolong Showcased High-Efficiency Motor and Drive Solutions

Water and wastewater pumping systems must operate dependably under demanding conditions, often around the clock. Whether the application involves municipal treatment, industrial fluid handling, deep-well pumping, or other critical infrastructure, operators need equipment that supports efficient performance, responsive control, and long service life.
At WEFTEC 2026, Wolong Electric America showcased a portfolio of high-efficiency motors and variable frequency drives engineered for water and wastewater applications. Visitors joined Wolong in New Orleans, Louisiana, from September 28–30, 2026, to learn more about motor and drive technologies designed to support energy savings, uptime, and pumping-system performance.
Motor Solutions for Water and Wastewater Pumping Systems
Pumping systems can represent a substantial share of a water or wastewater facility’s energy use. For this reason, motor selection and speed control are important considerations for engineers, OEMs, system integrators, and facility operators. The right technology can help a system respond to changing process demands while supporting more consistent flow, pressure, and operating efficiency.
Wolong Electric America’s WEFTEC 2026 exhibit featured the EMR Bulldozer integrated drive motor family, Electronically Commutated Motors, Energy Saver Severe Duty and Close-Coupled Motors, vertical hollow and solid shaft motors, and Medium Voltage Variable Frequency Drives. Together, these solutions serve a wide range of new-equipment and retrofit needs across municipal and industrial water and wastewater applications.
EMR Bulldozer Integrated Drive Motors
The EMR Bulldozer family led Wolong Electric America’s WEFTEC product showcase. Designed for variable-speed pumping and fluid-handling applications, this ferrite-assisted synchronous reluctance integrated drive motor platform combines the motor and drive in a compact package.
The EMR Bulldozer is engineered to provide ultra-high efficiency equivalent to IE5 performance, precise control, and compact power density. Its ability to operate efficiently over a wide speed range makes it well suited for pumping applications in which flow requirements can change with process conditions. Accurate low-speed control, lower noise, and dependable operation in harsh environments can help municipal and industrial water facilities manage critical pumping processes more effectively.
Available in standard NEMA frames from 3 to 100 HP and at 1200 or 1800 RPM speeds, the EMR Bulldozer platform is designed for practical adoption in both new installations and retrofit projects. Its integrated drive design, near-unity power factor, cooler operating temperatures, and reduced rotor losses can help operators lower energy consumption and support longer motor life without requiring mechanical modifications to existing systems.
EC Motors for Precise Speed Control
Wolong also highlighted its Electronically Commutated, or EC, motor platform. Built on high-efficiency interior permanent magnet technology, the EC motor series meets or exceeds IE4 efficiency requirements and is available in outputs from 0.09 to 7.5 kW. Manufactured in Monterrey, Mexico, these motors provide a compact, efficient option for applications requiring accurate speed regulation and smooth torque delivery.
For water and wastewater equipment designers, precise motor control can be especially valuable when maintaining targeted flow and pressure is essential. Wolong EC motors offer speed-control accuracy down to 1 RPM and support multiple control inputs, including serial port, PWM, 0–10 VDC, and 24 VAC multispeed options.
The platform also includes electronic protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, locked-rotor, and overtemperature conditions. These capabilities help OEMs and system designers support reliable pump operation while reducing energy use and operating costs in critical fluid-handling applications.
Severe-Duty Motors for Demanding Pump Environments
Water and wastewater pumping environments can be hard on equipment. Exposure to moisture, debris, vibration, and challenging duty cycles makes rugged construction and dependable efficiency especially important.
Also featured at WEFTEC 2026, Wolong’s Energy Saver Severe Duty Motors are engineered for challenging pumping, fluid-handling, and food-processing environments, with Close-Coupled models available as a specialized option within the severe-duty platform. These NEMA Design B, three-phase motors are offered in JM, JP, and C-face mounting configurations; NEMA frames 143 through 365; horsepower ratings from 1 to 75 HP; and 208–230/460 V configurations. Featuring NEMA Premium efficiency and TEFC, IP55 construction, they provide reliable operation in harsh, moisture-prone environments.
With aluminum or heavy-duty cast iron frames, endshields, and conduit boxes, as well as heavy-gauge steel fan covers and non-sparking fans, the motors are designed for long service life. They are also VFD capable under NEMA MG1 Part 31, provide smooth acceleration and low-noise operation, and include a three-year warranty. These features make the platform a strong option for water and wastewater pump packages where durability and low running costs are both priorities.
Vertical Pump Motors for High-Thrust Applications
Wolong also highlighted its Ultra Series vertical hollow and solid shaft motors at WEFTEC 2026. Deep-well and other vertical pumping applications place unique demands on motor construction, thrust capability, and long-term bearing performance. Wolong’s Ultra Series vertical hollow and solid shaft motors are designed to meet those requirements in wastewater treatment and related industries.
The vertical motor platform combines NEMA Premium efficiency with full inverter-duty capability exceeding NEMA MG1-31 requirements. Cast iron construction, Class H insulation, and high-thrust performance help support dependable operation in demanding service conditions.
Wolong’s vertical hollow and solid shaft motor offering spans from 3 to 3,000 HP, with speeds from 600 to 3,600 RPM. Available configurations include 460, 575, and 2,300/4,160 V options, along with WPI and TEFC enclosures and P-base mountings. Features such as rodent protection, improved axial ball ratchet systems, insulated bearings, AEGIS SGR protection, and extended bearing life are designed to help operators improve long-term equipment reliability.
Medium Voltage Drives for Reliable Pump Control
At WEFTEC 2026, Wolong Electric America also showcased Medium Voltage Variable Frequency Drives for larger pumping systems and critical water infrastructure. Built on a cascaded H-Bridge, IGBT-based multilevel inverter topology, the drives produce low-distortion output without external filters and are compatible with both new and legacy motors.
The drive design also helps address uptime and maintenance considerations. An all-copper pulse phase-shift transformer helps reduce grid harmonics, while power-cell redundancy, neutral rebalancing, modular swap-out components, redundant cooling fans, and a compact drawer-style configuration are designed to simplify maintenance and keep critical equipment operating.
Quantum Infinity for High-Capacity Pumping
In addition to the technologies featured at WEFTEC 2026, Wolong’s new Quantum Infinity™ medium-voltage motor platform delivers application-engineered performance for high-capacity horizontal pumping systems. Available in ratings up to 10,000 HP and voltages from 2.3 kV to 13.8 kV, the platform supports water conveyance, municipal infrastructure, irrigation, flood-control, and modernization projects requiring continuous-duty reliability.
Built on Wolong’s Quantum LMV and Quantum Large platforms, Quantum Infinity combines high power density, enhanced cooling, and a modular design with options for VFD or soft-starter operation, condition monitoring, and other application-specific features. Wolong’s North American engineering team works directly with customers to help match each motor to project requirements.
